Finally back among the living.....

After having spent my entire summer writing papers espousing all my views on women in literature and argument writing, I had neither the energy nor the inclination to write more. I did exceedingly well in both classes, and am now two step closer to my BSN. However, I am very glad they are over. I like my own time too much.

So, I am taking a break from school until after Christmas. In the deep dark winter, there won't be much to do outdoors, anyway....so why not use the time for some book learnin'? I am looking forward to the changing of the season.....it has been a hellish summer in Kentucky, with hardly any rain and heat like I have never known before!!!! Cool crisp days will be a welcome relief. I look forward to going to dig all my sweaters out of storage, getting back into my knitting, maybe finally busting out my sewing machine, going hiking, getting my bike up and running.....

Summer is probably my least favorite season. I HATE to be hot and sweaty. I love Spring and Fall, Winter I can tolerate.

I am also looking forward to my kid going back to school. All the togetherness is starting to get to me. Don't get me wrong.... I love my kid, and I love spending time with him. But... I have not had 5 minutes to myself in two months unless I was in the shower. Even when I would stay up REALLY late, he would stay up just as late, or if I insisted he go to bed, he would lay in his room looking to see if he could see the light from the TV shining under his door. I swear if my kid does not start getting a social life soon, we are going to be like that family in 16 Candles that is forcing the kid to go to the dance, and he is yelling, "But, I want to be with you guys!!" My best days will be those on which my kid is in school and my husbeast is at work... and I have the day all to myself. Yay!!!

Well, my posting is quite sporadic. School and work have been keeping me hella busy.

I finished my first online course, "Women Studies: Women in Literature." It was really interesting. Learned a lot about myself. Realized I am not the only woman out there that wants to shed the responsibilities and just run away.

Now immersed in another writing class. So far things are going swimmingly. The instructor's due dates do no mesh well with my work schedule, so I am trying to keep ahead of the game. I am caught up through next Monday. Yay!

I have joined the medicated masses. I went for my physical last week, and got put on Welbutrin for depression. Seems to help. I am much less snappy than I usually am.

Other than that.... it's just been work and school around the clock for weeks, now. Plus my son has to do summer school, so I have to keep track of him, as well. The library and I  are becoming great friends. My first essay is about this commercial:

<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="270" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/VhkDdayA4iA?fs=1" width="480"></iframe>

I have watched this commercial no less than 30 times. Plus re-watched the movie.  There are at least 50 references to the film in the commercial.  Some very  subtle, so obvious.  Honda and RPA were very clever in making the commercial into an Easter-egg hunt.

I am writing about how Honda appealed to the Generation-Xers to sell this vehicle. 5 pages. First draft done.

Read some books, saw some movies, that's about it.
Jen Lancaster's latest memoir. LOVE HER!!!!
Saw "Rock of Ages".....nothing but a good time... How could I resist? Went in with no expectations, and was not disappointed aside from Julianne Hough's HORRIBLE voice.

Saw "Brave" which was AWESOME!!!!  Went well with my women in literature class. Cried through three napkins. I am such a wuss.

We are expecting a heat wave this week. Boo hiss.... I hate being hot. And we need rain here so desperately.

Another scattered post by me. You're welcome. W. :)

First quiz done!

Yay!!!  I am back in school, for reals, yo!  Got a 100%.  Now on to more reading.

Also, reading the new Jen Lancaster book, "Jeneration X." She may well be one of my favorite writers. Her memoirs are hysterically funny, and reading one of her books is like chatting with your favorite snarky friend.

On to my class discussion board......

This is why blogging is hard....

I like to limit the amount of time I spend on the computer. I usually try to keep it under two hours. So with that little bit of time, I have to use my computer time wisely. Which means, if I am in the midst of a project, a research, or like now, school blogging and the reading of blogs is going to fall by the wayside. I have spent the better part of the past month working on my genealogy, and have been uncovering tons of interesting family history, but mostly on my birth-father's side. Which is kind of sad, because I never knew him, and I believe he is now dead. And I have found a ton of dead ends on my mother's side, which unless I can plan some trips will remain a mystery. I have also begun my online class. Which is a TON of reading. So, now my computer time will be used for that purpose. So, all in all, I am alive and well. Will be schooling til August, and then taking a trip to MIA for a weekend. W. :) BTW: I HATE blogging in bloggers new format. I am not about to start typing in all these commands to make it look how I want.

Fill in the blank friday

A week late.... but still...
1. Today is a great day because, I am off work!!!
2. Tomorrow I will go to the library with my kiddo to work on genealogy stuff.
3. My favorite time of day is midmorning because I usually have the house to myself. I indulge in some morning tv, and then around 10 or 11 I go out to face the day. Or not. It is wonderful.
4. Sometimes you just have to spend the day in your jammies.
5. A song that I just can't get enough of lately is "Somebody I Used to Know" by Gotye.
6. My favorite accessory is Hmmmm..... I don't wear jewelry much. Not even my wedding ring. I guess I would have to say a pair of low top Chuck's.
7. My favorite thing about this week was getting myself registered for class.

♫Sing along Sunday!!♫

Really, can there be any other song to play on the anniversary of the Titanic disaster?

May all those souls continue to rest in peace.

Fill in the blank Friday

Courtesy of the little things we do.
1. Today is a good day because I have a job, a place to live, and a family that loves me.

2. The best thing I did all week was watched four very good movies. The best, by far, being "War Horse."

3. The current weather is sunny and it makes me feel like I wish I didn't have to work .

4. The best thing about spring is all the beautiful flowers and trees waking up.

5. A fashion trend that I'm dying to try out for spring is colored jeans.

6. A person who made me smile this week was ...........

7. The most delicious thing I ate all week was a fruit and nut chocolate bar I bought at ALDI. The taste reminded me of being back in Sweden.
